Sintered iron is one of the most widely used metal powders in the manufacturing of mechanical components, as well as one of the oldest materials in powder metallurgy.

During the production process, iron gives rise to the so-called “green part”, characterised by a high porosity, which makes it particularly suitable for the production of bearings and sliding guides.

Thanks to a subsequent impregnation treatment, the pores of the material are saturated with lubricant, allowing for the production of self-lubricating mechanical parts.

This property allows sintered iron slide guides to offer excellent emergency performance, even without additional lubrication, ensuring smooth and long-lasting sliding over time.

Sintered iron exhibits soft or hard magnetic properties, characterized by low coercive force and high electrical resistance.

Thanks to heat treatments, it is possible to increase their wear resistance and chemical protection against external agents, both liquid and gaseous.
Their high rigidity guarantees dimensional stability even under conditions of strong pressure, avoiding deformation and degradation of the material.

From the design phase, DL Sintered Srl supports customers in selecting and mixing the most suitable metal powders for each application, creating customized mechanical parts optimized based on the functional needs of the project.
