Stainless Steel Sintering

Sintered Steel: main characteristics

Sintered stainless steel components are distinguished by their high corrosion resistance, both at room temperature and under high temperature conditions.

For this reason they are used in applications subject to aggressive or highly corrosive environments, where reliability and durability are fundamental.

Through specific post-sintering surface treatments, it is possible to increase the hardness and mechanical resistance of the parts, even if this may slightly reduce their anti-corrosion capacity.

Furthermore, the choice of the type of metal powder allows for the achievement of targeted characteristics:
Sintered parts made from refractory stainless steel are amagnate, while those made from iron-based alloys guarantee magnetic properties where required.

Mechanical parts made of sintered steel have high resistance to oxidation at high temperatures and good weldability.

Thanks to surface heat treatments, such as tempering, it is possible to further increase its hardness and mechanical resistance, improving performance compared to standard sintered steel.

DL Sintered Srl, a pioneer in powder metallurgy and thanks to the acquisition of the historic Rubini, specializes in the processing of sintered steel.

Collaborating with customers from the design stages, the company defines the correct formulation of powder mixtures and selects the most suitable heat treatments, guaranteeing components with even complex shapes and technical characteristics optimized for every application requirement.
