Sintered Bronze: main characteristics

Sintered bronze products are mechanical parts made with non-ferrous alloys, obtained from a mixture of copper and tin powders in variable proportions, based on the desired technical characteristics.

These components have a high porosity, which makes them ideal for the production of self-lubricating parts.
Bronze also stands out for its excellent resistance to seawater and corrosive agents, qualities that favor its use in hydraulic and automotive applications.

The bronze sintering process follows the same steps applied to other metals: definition of the powder mixture, pressing in a mold, extraction and subsequent sintering in a furnace at a controlled temperature, lower than the melting point of the alloys used.

Sintered bronze mechanical parts can be used in the presence of oxygen, cold or hot water, and with diluted acids in the absence of air.

However, bronze has limited corrosion resistance in environments containing oxidizing acids, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, or sulfur, and is therefore not recommended for agri-food applications.
On the contrary, it is widely used in the treatment of air, gases, oils and liquids, where it guarantees reliable and long-lasting performance.

DL Sintered Srl's sintered bronze products are the result of a meticulous design and co-design process with the customer, aimed at creating customized components, even with complex shapes.

Porosity and physical-mechanical properties can be adjusted through different mixtures of metal powders, selected and optimized thanks to the experience gained in over forty years of activity in the powder metallurgy sector.
